Polyester film (PET film) is a widely used material in the industry. There are a large number of manufacturers producing a variety of products. Transparent sheets are common, but milky to white sheets are also available. Matte and opake polyester films are available. Black polyester film is also produced. With a certain amount, other colors can be produced. For this purpose raw materials are used, which are dyed in the raw materials. Polyester films colored in this way are mainly used in the food industry. Sealable polyester films are also used in the food industry.
Other special grades include UV-stabilized films and flame-retardant films. Polyester films are produced in various thicknesses from 8 µm to 500 µm. Materials can be supplied in widths up to 8 m, and strips can be produced from 1.2 mm depending on the thickness. Dr. Dietrich Müller GmbH distributes polyester films of the following brands:

Mylar polyester film

Mylar is a transparent and flexible polyester film based on polyethylene terephthalate. This film appears milky and translucent with increasing thickness of the material. DuPont Teijin Films produces these films in Luxembourg and elsewhere. The properties of Mylar are excellent resistance to moisture and common solvents. It can be used at temperatures from 70 °C to 150 °C. Since it does not contain plasticizers, it does not become brittle when aged under normal conditions.

Hostaphan Polyester Films

Hostaphan is a polyester film manufactured by Mitsubishi in Germany. The films of interest in our area are Hostaphan RN and Hostaphan WN types. Hostaphan polyester film has very good properties in terms of mechanical stability, electrical resistance, wear resistance and temperature resistance. Excellent mechanical strength and high dimensional stability are other positive properties. These polyester films are equipped with adhesion promoters for printing and water-soluble coatings on one or both sides.

Melinex polyester film

Melinex is a flexible white polyester film with a matte finish offered by DuPont Teijin Films. Its properties include a relative temperature index of 10°C and a mechanical RTI of 130°C. It also shows better aging performance than conventional polyester films with higher oligomer content. In addition, Melinex attaches great importance to high dielectric strength, low dielectric change, excellent mechanical properties and very good hydrolysis resistance.

Garware Polyester Films

Garware is an Indian polyester film manufacturer that also produces a wide range of polyester films.

Lumirror Polyester Films

Lumirror is a high performance multifunctional film developed with Toray's advanced technology. It is used for many computer applications as an industrial material (for applications such as flat panel displays, liquid crystal materials, and as a process barrier) and as a magnetic material (for computer data storage, DVC tapes, etc.). Lumirror is also widely used as a packaging material.

Polyester film stampings

These polyester films and other materials are available from Dr. Dietrich Müller GmbH to cover the variety of applications for stamped parts. An extensive range of machinery with stroke and rotary die-cutting forms the basis for realizing orders ranging from very small quantities to large series with several million copies.
How should the die cut goods be delivered? There are various options for this: The die-cut parts made of polyester film can be supplied on rolls with self-adhesive finish or optionally non-adhesive on rolls. The options as self-adhesive single part or non-adhesive single part are also possible as well as loose cast die-cut parts or magazine single parts.
Are you looking for a good consultant? Dr. Dietrich Müller GmbH will not only assist you with product selection, but will also work with you to find a solution for your own coating and film combination if a specific material is not available. From material procurement and coating to cutting and punching, Dr. Dietrich Müller GmbH controls the entire vertical range of the punching process. When it comes to logistics, the company also finds the optimum solutions for you in the supply of stamped parts.
Parts perforated from polyester film are used frequently and in a variety of ways in the automotive industry, the cable industry, and the medical technology and electronics industries.

Alternatives to polyester films

If the temperature resistance of polyester films is not sufficient, use Teonex Q51 - PEN film, our PEI films and polyimide films are available as technical films covering a wide range.
