Structure:
pes is an amorphous, transparent and light amber coloured high performance thermoplastic.
Property:
PES is a bit more heat resistant than pei, but not as heat resistant as peek. Of all commercially available transparent thermoplastics it is the most heat resistant. Its water absorption capacity is rlt. high and as with many other plastics, drying is essential before thermoforming. Polyethersulfone is not particularly durable and tends to stress cracking. Its thermal aging resistance is good and its radiation resistance is sufficient. In terms of its chemical resistance, polyethersulfone is not as good as peek, so stable solutions can be produced with polyethersulfone if the right solvents are selected.
Application:
pes is used for electrical and electronic components, medical equipment that has to be repeatedly sterilized and photographic accessories.
