Filter balls for all commercially available filter systems

Due to their extremely fine structure, our filter balls remove residues of dirt up to a size of 1.5 µm from the water.
Therefore, compared to sand, they contribute significantly to improving the water quality and hygiene of your pool. Filter balls have a significantly greater filtration effect in relation to conventional filter media, such as sand, gas or filter cartridges. The use of flocculants is not recommended, as filter balls can clump together due to their fine structure.

Our filter balls, based on polyethylene, are non-toxic and 100% recyclable.

Another advantage of our filter balls is that at the end of the season you can easily wash them in a pillowcase or similar in the washing machine with a mild detergent, dry them and store them for the next season.

Normally, special filter sand is filled into the boiler of the filter system, or in the case of very small filter systems, only one filter cartridge is inserted. However, both filter systems have the same procedure: The water is sucked in by a pool pump, pressed through the inserted filter medium and pumped back into the pool. Thus, dirt and debris are filtered out of the water.

The special features of our Filter Balls

Our Filter Balls have many advantages:

  • Easy to dispose of and non-toxic
  • Provide an excellent filtering result
  • Help to save energy
  • Very long lifetime
  • Uncomplicated handling to have no more sand in the pool
  • Rewinding operations are not needed
  • 100% recyclable
  • 100% polyethylene
  • Low weight
  • Filters even the smallest dirt particles

The structure of our filter wadding is much finer than filter sand or glass and can therefore filter dirt particles down to a size of 1 micron from your water.
In addition to the fine dirt, the filter material can also filter fats such as (eg sunscreen) from the water.

Application of our filter balls

No matter which filter media you finally choose, you can always change or retrofit it. However, you should take some time for retrofitting during the season. Tips for retrofitting can be found in our description below.

Retrofitting our filter balls

  1. First of all, the entire filter system must be turned off, and the ball valves and gate valves must be closed.
Likewise, no one should be in the pool, because after successful retrofitting the filter system will be put back into operation.
  2. As when winterizing the pool, one now opens the drain valve at the bottom of the filter system,
so that the water can run out of the filter boiler.
  3. Next, open the boiler. Filter systems with a top valve must remove the valve for this and the boiler must be emptied overhead. Filter systems with a two-part boiler, on the other hand, can simply loosen the clamping ring and remove the lid of the filter system.
  4. Once the tank is free of the old filter medium, the new filter balls can be placed in the tank.
It is essential to follow the manufacturer's instructions for this. You will find a rough guide value in the comparison table below.
  5. Afterwards, the filter vessel can be closed again in a professional manner. Once the gate valves and ball valves are open again, the valve of the filter system can be set to "Filter" and the pool pump can be switched on.
Filtering with our filter balls

For filtering, it may be necessary to adjust the valve of the filtering equipment. If this is not set to filtering, it must be changed.
To do this, turn off the pool pump and operate the lever of the valve.

After the pool valve has been set to Filter, the pump can be switched on. The now sucked dirt and grime is filtered out of the water due to the fine structure of the filter balls.

The backwash with our filter balls

The pressure inside the filter bowl increases the more dirt has been filtered out of the water. Therefore, the pressure gauge of the filter system must be checked regularly. Normally, you should backwash the filter system about once a week, regardless of the filter media.

The backwashing of the filter system has not changed either. The valve of the pool filter must also be operated for this purpose. Here we close the ball valves and shut-off valves and switch off the pool pump. Only now may the valve be switched to "backwash".

Once the valve has been changed over and the sewer line connected, the pool pump can be switched on again.

Now the sight glass on the valve must be observed. This shows the current water quality. Depending on the degree of contamination, the Backwashing of the filter system can take several minutes take several minutes. If the water becomes clear again, you can stop backwashing (switch off the pool pump) and set it to rinse. Thus, the remaining dirt is removed from the piping and dirt ends up in the pool. This process takes only a few minutes.

At the end, the pool pump is again first deactivated so that the valve can be set to filter again. Then it is switched on again so that filtering can begin with the freshly cleaned filter balls.

The correct filling quantity of our filter balls is crucial

As mentioned earlier, when you switch to Filter Balls, you don't need the same amount of the previous filter material
Due to the higher filtration capacity much less filter material is needed.

The life expectancy of our filter balls

The biggest advantage compared to conventional filter media has not even been mentioned yet, because the filter wadding can be easily recycled in the washing machine. You have heard correctly. You simply take the filter material out of the kettle and put it in the washing machine. Then you can put it freshly cleaned, back into the kettle.

Thus, you can use the filter balls not only in one season, but in several. However, the frequency depends on the care (regular backwashing, see above), as well as the quality of the filter balls.
